In Nepal, unexpected disasters strip many people from the stable foundations through which they live and survive. These adversities devastate their physical and psychological well being as well as their means of sustenance.
Our journey of Aid For Living Life began with the vision of providing expeditious aid to those struck by unexpected adverse circumstances in Nepal. In 2017, two people - one Nepali and one Norwegian, connected together in a time when floods were ravaging this nation and disrupting homes and lives of many. They had a vision to provide immediate needed support to those in need and so, the Aid For Living Life Project commenced by distributing relief packages to about 200 affected families.
We are going strong since, and have recently distributed about 900 relief packages in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shubhakalika is a rural municipality in Kalikot district of Karnali province. This region is still backward in terms of health, economy and infrastructures; with the majority of people belonging to the working class. Many people derive their income through employment in India or other gulf countries. With the imposition of lockdown in the whole world amid the Covid-19 pandemic, they were struggling with economic burdens and their health risks were not very comforting either.
We as an organization made an attempt to help those families by providing them with ‘All Relief Kit’ which included food supplies along with necessary health materials.
Kalikot is geographically difficult when it comes to transportation. So, we used mules as a source of transport for reaching out to the families. The 4-hour journey was tough and unknown; however, with the rigorous efforts and determination of our volunteers the distribution was a success. People were more than pleased and satisfied with our efforts which gave us a motive to go on.
