COVID-19 Relief
The COVID-19 pandemic deeply affected lives across Nepal that left many families into crisis. With jobs lost, transportation halted, and rising health concerns, people struggled to access even the most basic necessities (food, medicine, and hygiene materials). At this difficult time, Starts Foundation stepped forward with our Aid for Living Lifeproject to stand by those hit hardest.
From rural hills to city neighborhoods, we tried to reach some of the places where it mattered most. Under the guidance of Starts Foundation, local volunteers (many of them were young students) played a powerful role during the entire distribution process. They didn’t just deliver aid but they built trust, connected with people, and discovered their own potential.
Despite the challenges of lockdowns, remote locations, and limited resources, we were able to reach thousands of families across five provinces. More than just a relief effort, this project became a moment of hope, resilience, and shared humanity.

Explore Activities
Madhesh Province
Madhesh was one of the highly affected areas during the COVID-19 pandemic since it was sharing a border with India. Many families, especially poor and vulnerable groups like Musahar, Dalit, laborers, and single mothers, were struggling to survive. We helped more than 700 families in areas like Sarlahi, Dhanusha, Parsa, Janakpur, and Siraha by giving them food, hygiene items, and other essentials. Local volunteers and youth groups helped us find the families who needed support the most.
Dhanusha
We worked at Hansapur Municipality and Janakpur Sub-Metro City in Dhanusha.
We supported over 320 families who belong to the Mushahar Community, Dalit Community and people with low income families in Hansapur. Around 10 local volunteers joined hand in hand with us to make it possible. This initiative started from September 2020 till January 2021.
Whereas, we supported 50 families with low income, especially single working women in Janakpur. 4 volunteers were involved in the process.This lasted for 6 months.
Parsa
In Birgunj Metropolitan City, we reached out to 80 families that needed our support the most at that time. Beside that we supported 37 rickshaw drivers from 3 different garages in collaboration with Apan Radhemai Youth Club. We commuted in motorcycles to reach out to those communities. It took us 6 months to complete it.
Sarlahi
In Sarlahi, we worked closely with three municipalities : Kaudena, Ishworpur, and Malangawa to support communities affected by floods.
In Kaudena, we reached 175 families belonging to the Dalit community. In Ishworpur, we provided essential supplies to 50 families, specifically focusing on households with persons with disabilities. In Malangawa, 60 low-income families received support. We carried out the distribution process in a single day in each place with the help of 10 local volunteers and members from Starts Foundation. Despite the challenges, the collective effort made a meaningful difference to those who needed it most.
Siraha
In Siraha, we supported 42 families in Kalyanpur Municipality, focusing on the Dalit community. This effort was made possible through the collaboration of volunteers from Dhanusha, the Starts Foundation team from Kathmandu, and dedicated local social activists. Together, they spent a week on the ground, ensuring that the families received the care and support they needed during such a difficult time.
